Mine Heat Opportunities Across South Wales

The Coal Authority have recently shared a new open access map on the ‘DataMapWales’ website which shows the mine heat opportunities in South Wales. Open-access reports support the map and describe the best opportunities in each area. Across Wales, there are many old underground workings which have water that could be used for mine water heat opportunities. It allows the public and private sector to think about using the mine water for cooling or heating which would also be a benefit in reaching lower carbon targets by using renewable energy.
