ESP delivers environmental impact assessments that identify potential project impacts and support informed planning decisions
Organisations are becoming increasingly aware of their corporate responsibilities to the local communities and protecting the environment in which they work. Coupled with regulatory control, demonstrating a commitment to continuous environmental improvement has become a significant aspect of a company’s everyday activity.
At ESP we have the expertise to assist organisations achieving continual improvement with the implementation, auditing and reporting of your environmental management systems. We can supply a range of environmental services to ensure environmental compliance is achieved in a sustainable and effective manner, through an Environmental Impact Assessment.
Environmental Impact Assessment (often referred as EIA) is a procedure and management technique, which ensures that the likely effects of new development on the environment are fully appraised and considered before the development is granted with planning permission. The procedure requires systematic analysis of the predicted effects of the project on the environment and these services allow preparation of an Environmental Statement that describes this. We have the experience and expertise to undertake a wide range of studies to satisfy the requirements of the EIA.
ESP is particularly accomplished in the supporting and the engineering design process, particularly relating to the impact on air, noise, ecology, and the ground and surface waters.
Understanding habitat characteristics and ecology is one of the cornerstones of environmental assessment. It forms an important part of conservation, as well as an essential consideration in all development and construction works.
Our experience includes bat and badger surveys, and we have extensive experience in wet land ecology. We have managed the assessment of a large land reclamation scheme at the site of the former Merthyr Vale Colliery and our ecological and habitat assessments have formed the basis for key development decisions.

ESP delivered an environmental impact assessment for a pre-sale land appraisal in Mere, Wiltshire, supporting Wiltshire Council in evaluating the redevelopment potential of a brownfield site.
We undertook an integrated desk study and site investigation to assess historical land use, contamination risk and hydrogeological sensitivity within a residential setting underlain by a Principal Aquifer.
Our assessment confirmed limited contamination impacts and provided clear, evidence-based recommendations on development feasibility and sustainable drainage potential, supporting informed planning and land disposal decisions.
We are proud to serve as a trusted partner for a diverse range of clients, delivering specialist geotechnical and geo-environmental expertise to the UK’s most ambitious projects.

We operate within a framework of professional memberships and industry-recognised accreditations, including ISO9001 and ISO 14001, ensuring that our technical delivery is consistently aligned with the highest standards of quality and governance.

Earth Science Partnership recently completed an independent geo-environmental review for us and I have been extremely impressed with both the quality of their work and the professionalism of the team. The report was comprehensive, balanced and technically robust, helping us navigate a complex evidence base and identify the key issues requiring further consideration. Just as importantly, ESP were approachable and willing to engage constructively with questions arising from the draft report. Special thanks to Daniel Thomas for his time, patience and willingness to explain technical matters in a way that non-specialists could understand. It was clear throughout that the focus was on objective, evidence-led analysis rather than simply telling a client what they wanted to hear. A highly professional consultancy and one I would most happily recommend. Simon Lewis : Secretary : Nant-Y-Calch Conservation GroupPosted on Google![]()

Earth Science Partnership has helped us immensely through a , long, stressful and complex situation following a major leak under our property. We had the absolute pleasure of working with Giles Sommerwill, who was with us every step of the way. He helped us to understand the geological conditions and ramifications following such a major leak, and then informed and advised us during the process of agreeing a remedial solution with the water company, as well as helping us address other issues that arose over time. Giles is experienced, knowledgeable and highly qualified. We could not have hoped to work with anyone more professional, reliable or kind. We also felt that Giles was genuinely concerned, not just about our property, but about our well-being. Thanks to him, we highly recommend, and praise, Earth Science Partnership.Posted on Google![]()
