Earth Science Partnership Sponsors Rhys Knapman
ESP provided sponsorship to South Wales sprinter Rhys Knapman, from Barry. ESP selected Rhys owing to his outstanding contribution to sport and his clear exceptional athletic talent, providing financial support to assist with equipment and travel expenses, and some warm-up/cool down clothing.
Rhys had a fantastic 2006 season, becoming:
- Welsh Schools U17 Champion (100m & 200m)
- Cardiff and Vale U17 Champion (100m & 200m)
- Welsh Inter-regional U17 Champion (100m & 200m)
- South Wales U17 County Champion (100m & 200m)
- Welsh U17 Champion (100m & 200m)
In 2007, Rhys entered the U20 age group, and despite being only 17yrs of age, represented Wales at the SEAA U20 Home Counties Internationals, U20 Inter-association match and the Celtic International Junior Games, in Belfast.
Rhys is now training hard throughout the closed season, and entering some indoor events, but focussing on improving on his already exceptional record in 2008. We look forward to continue supporting Rhys and will keep you updated on his progress.
