National Marine Week 2021

With the British coastline never more than a few hour’s drive away, our coasts and seas play a big part in everything we do here in the UK. With this in mind, ESP have committed to a more sustainable future aimed at reducing our impact on the environment, including the marine environment that we are so lucky to be able to enjoy.

Running from the 24th July to the 8th August, to take advantage of the tides, National Marine Week is a chance to celebrate the incredible wildlife found in the seas around the UK and our relationship with this incredible habitat that surrounds us.

Wildlife Trusts around the UK will be holding sea-themed events, from snorkelling through the waters of Wembury Bay in Devon, to exploring the rockpools of Yorkshire’s Boggle Hole on a seashore safari, or even picnicking with a porpoise on the clifftops of North Wales.

There are also plenty of activities to take part in from home, including making your own seal mask, make a starfish finger puppet, word searches and colouring activities – perfect for keeping the kids entertained during the Summer holidays.

No matter where you are in the UK, there’s plenty to celebrate: our seas are home to over half of all our wildlife (more than 30,000 species), contribute to flood management and water purification, and provide the oxygen for every other breath you take! At ESP we wholeheartedly support marine conservation initiatives and want to play our part in making sure our wonderful marine environment is given the proper protection it deserves.

You can read more about other ways how, as a company, we are working towards a more sustainable future on our posts here.
