Radyr Comp School Leavers off to Cambridge University & Pilot Training Following Summer Working at ESP

ESP says goodbye to two members of staff this week; Joe Lagorio-Price and Adam Cleaver who finished A Levels at Radyr Comprehensive School earlier this year and have both spent the summer working for ESP carrying out a variety of office and field based work.

Joe, who achieved an incredible 5 A*s at A level in Physics, Maths, Chemistry, Biology and Welsh Baccalaureate, is leaving for the University of Cambridge to study medicine and hopes to become a doctor.

Joe said ”Working at ESP has given me the experience of working in an office environment and I have learnt lots of useful office based skills. It was great to get to know all of the staff; they were all very friendly which made it an enjoyable working environment.

I also had an interesting day on site with Graduate Engineer, Ben Fisher learning how to use an inclinometer and working with boreholes. It was great to be able to work in the office for some days and then go out on site other days. It meant that I was never doing the same thing, so I was always content with the work. ESP was a great experience and a chance for me to learn new things.”

Adam also achieved absolutely fantastic A level results in Physics, Maths, IT and Welsh Baccalaureate and he now leaves us to begin training to become a commercial pilot.

Adam said ”I have learnt lots of new skills working for ESP and now have an insight of how sites operate and the internal running of a business.  There are many aspects of ESP that I enjoyed; it was good meeting new people and working with them.

I also enjoyed going out to a variety of sites to assist ESP engineers with field works including soak away testing and ground testing. I also learnt about the importance of safety equipment and the specific tools and equipment required for certain jobs. ESP has been a great learning opportunity for me.”

Everyone at ESP has thoroughly enjoyed working with Joe and Adam and we wish them both the very best in their future careers!
