We completed a robust and timely site investigation on a residential development site. We commenced with a desk study, followed by intrusive investigation to consider both geotechnical and geoenvironmental aspects. The site investigation comprised trial pitting, soakaway infiltration testing to BRE 365 and dynamic probe testing to provide California Bearing Ratio (CBR) information.
The investigation considered the presence of possible nearby sources of ground gas which we were able to downgrade through a thorough desk study and site inspections. The investigation found that superficial deposits from a nearby large river were found to partly underlie the site and this presented different ground conditions in the north and south.
The investigation by our geotechnical engineers was able to provide the client with design advice for their development, notably for foundations, floor slabs, soakaways and provided a contaminated land risk assessment on possible risks to end users.
Our recommendations were provided in a timely report and the Client was informed of findings as the work progressed. Some further work was recommended that would benefit construction of the site and these were ranked in importance/benefit.
