Following on from World Mental Health Day 2026, at ESP we have been reflecting on Mental Health initiatives in our workplace, industry and the wider community.
Mental health is a vital component of workplace safety, particularly in the construction industry. The construction industry faces some of the highest rates of stress, burnout, and suicide. In the UK, construction workers are three times more likely to die by suicide than the national average for men. On average over 700 construction workers lose their lives to suicide every year.
At Earth Science Partnership we encourage: Mental Health awareness, clear signposting to support services, training our staff to recognise distress, and peer-led conversations that build openness and reduce stigma.
💬 It is important to say, “I am not okay.”
💬 It is important to ask, “Are you all right?”
💬 It is important to reach out and to respond.
Let’s build a culture where mental health is valued as much as physical safety.
The right mental health support can change lives. It can stop people reaching crisis point. It can save lives.
We have specially trained Mental Health First Aiders and promote a work environment where everyone who works for us feels comfortable to talk and feels supported at work and home.
Everyone should have access to mental health support that makes them feel seen, and starts on the day they ask for help.
Here are a few links which could help…..
The Mental Health & Wellbeing Show is also being held next May at Cardiff City Stadium.
